SAVANNAH PHILHARMONIC AND GREENBRIAR CHILDREN’S CENTER TEAM-UP FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY
SAVANNAH, GA – November 8, 2017 – The Savannah Philharmonic and Greenbriar Children’s Center are thrilled to present “Philharmonic in the Streetz” from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at Greenbriar, 3709 Hopkins St. in Savannah. This is the second annual family-friendly event but new for 2017 is the collaboration between Greenbriar Children’s Center and The Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra.
Free and open to all, especially children, and designed to celebrate music and neighborhood, “Philharmonic in the Streetz” will feature entertainment on an outdoor stage by Savannah Philharmonic musicians, Laiken Love and the Fellowship of Love, Marco Alexander, and Ricardo Ochoa and Friends. This neighborhood event will include special activities for children presented by local entertainer Magic Marc. Free Leopold’s ice cream will be provided, and Trick’s BBQ will be selling their famous BBQ dinners.
“Philharmonic in the Streetz is our effort to bring together all sectors of our community and enjoy each other’s company through the power of live music. Savannah needs efforts like this more than ever,” said Shannon. “Behind the scenes Marco Alexander will be going into the surrounding schools and Greenbriar to speak to youth about his own powerful journey and how to succeed in the face of adversity. It’s one of my favorite events on the Philharmonic calendar.”
Marco said, “People tell you often that the sky is the limit. I am one who finally understands that statement and can honestly challenge it by saying that the sky is NEVER the limit. There is so much more left to discover, if you only use what you’ve gone through as motivation. Your present, is never your final destination.”
