SAVANNAH PHILHARMONIC WELCOMES NEW FINANCE ASSOCIATE, MARGARET MURPHY

SAVANNAH, GA – August 16, 2017 – The Savannah Philharmonic welcomes Margaret Murphy as the new finance associate for the regionally renowned nonprofit musical organization.

Murphy, a CPA, takes on this role with over 25 years of accounting and management experience among for-profit and non-profit organizations. She has served on many boards, including the American Red Cross, Savannah Runaway Home and the Garden Council of Georgia.

Murphy has called Savannah home for many years as she has worked among many professional industries within the Coastal Empire. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Armstrong State University, and then moved on to receive her Master’s in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University. Murphy most recently served as director of accounting for Central India Christian Mission, and is looking forward to using her skillset to support and serve the Savannah Philharmonic.

The mission of the Savannah Philharmonic, which kicks off its 2017-18 season on Sept. 16, is to provide the highest level of musical performances and educational programs featuring the highest caliber of professional musicians, a volunteer chorus, and internationally acclaimed soloists. The nonprofit organization aims to exhilarate, educate, and enrich a large and diverse audience in the greater Savannah community.

“The Philharmonic is key to providing Savannah with full-season orchestral music, student education and year around music therapy in local hospitals and we are excited to add Margaret to our team,” Executive Director Terri O’Neil said. “Her expertise in all facets of business and accountancy will certainly assist us in carrying out our mission and growing our community programs.”
