Savannah, GA – “Set Sail with the Phil”, the Savannah Philharmonic’s gala fundraiser for the 2012-2013 season, will take place at 6pm on Thursday, October 4th at the Ships of the Sea Museum. The theme of this year’s event is Ports O’ Call around the world. Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour with internationally themed drinks in the museum’s beautiful new garden and then move to the new covered pavilion where a dozen caterers and restaurants will present a variety of culinary delights from Thai fare to Lowcountry cuisine. The Philharmonic Brass will be playing jazz throughout the evening while guests will be able to view and bid on the Gala Auction’s many extraordinary items. Event sponsors include First Citizens Bank and National Distributing Company.
“We are looking forward to a spectacular evening of music and cuisine with an international flair,” notes event chair Marilyn Sheridan. “The exciting Gala Auction, which is a blind auction, will end that night. Some of the unique items include a stay at the Plaza Athénée in New York, one-week in a magnificently restored 19th century apartment in Budapest, fabulous dinners, extraordinary artwork, fine jewelry and more!” All income from the Gala Auction will be used for the general operating expenses of the Savannah Philharmonic and Chorus.
Savannah Philharmonic members, subscribers, and friends are invited to “Set Sail with the Phil”. Ticket prices are $100-$250 per person. The secret auction has already begun. For more information on the auction items offered, or to purchase tickets, interested parties should call the Philharmonic office at 912-232-6002. Reservations will be accepted through September 28th.
